Our artist training workshops brought back several veteran artists, who presented on such topics as molding from clay, puppet mechanisms, and object movement to a cohort of emerging and mid-career artists, as well as local teachers and practitioners who are interested in building their puppetry skills. These workshops were funded by Minnesota State Arts Board.
Heart of the Beast Finds a New Home!
MINNEAPOLIS (September 9, 2025) – In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre (HOBT) is excited to announce it found a new home at a storefront in the Lowry Hill East Neighborhood of Minneapolis.
Programming will begin on November 1st at the new location (2411 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis).
During the transition, you’ll still find HOBT in the community through its upcoming programs:
· Sept. 20 – HOBT at Open Streets on Hennepin
· Sept. 25 – House Party
· Sept. 27 – Puppet Caravan from Lake to Hennepin
· Oct. 4 – Storytime at Midtown Global Market
· Oct. 12 – Community Moving Day
· Oct. 18 – Storytime in a community space near HOBT’s new home
· Oct. 25 - Community Moving Day
On December 20th, 2024, we gathered with Community to celebrate Winter with glowing lanterns, homemade soup and wonderful music as we bid our fond farewell to the Avalon Theatre.
After 36 years at The Avalon Theatre in Minneapolis, In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre (HOBT) intends to move to a new location and sell the building.
