In the Heart of the Beast
Part of our Ta-Da! Saturday Puppet Shows for Kids
Performances at 10am and noon
Created and performed by Julie and Gustavo Boada
As the constellations move into their spring location, Grandfather Turtle waits with anticipation for the return of his beloved granddaughter, Loon. He remembers the Ojibwe stories he told her and some of the lessons they carry that he used to guide her as she matured. The piece is told with hand and rod puppets. It touches on Ojibwe culture and loon biology. Music by Jim Parker.
Loon’s Song is performed in English. We find that children love puppetry in any language! Tickets are $7 suggested donation ($2 suggested donation for residents of Powderhorn and Phillips Neighborhoods).
Come for the show and stay for the family Make-n-Take activities in our classroom at 11am each Saturday morning. Registration for workshops is recommended and can be made at the 10am show or by calling 612-721- 2535 the previous week. The workshop price is $5 for children and $3 for adults.
