HOBT Staff and Board are committed to centering deep love and care for our community in the face of COVID-19. Our priority is protecting the health and safety of our community by doing our part to flatten the curve of COVID-19 and protect those most vulnerable. As such we have decided to: 

• Postpone all programming including our production of Coming Home to Wild
• Move all staff to remote work beginning March 16th

We will make every effort to restage Coming Home to Wild at a future date. HOBT is committed to honoring our financial commitments to our artists and crew so they do not lose income they had been planning on. All ticket income for Coming Home to Wild will be donated, as planned, to Indigenous Environmental Network. If you would instead like your ticket refunded please contact Brown Paper Tickets within 2 weeks by emailing [email protected]. Be sure to include your confirmation number, if possible.

Starting Monday, March 16th, all HOBT staff will be asked to work remotely.  Working remotely supports less exposure for staff and promotes essential social distancing. The Avalon Theatre will not be open to the public and the MayDay Council’s Tea & Treats sessions, scheduled to begin 3/13, have been postponed. 

We know this will likely be a very challenging time for freelance artists and have compiled resources (below) both for artists and ways the community can support the arts during this difficult time. 

In a time of great fear, we are choosing solidarity. We know not everyone is in the privileged position to work from home, adjust to losing childcare, take unpaid time off work. This is a moment when we must come together, when we must choose new ways forward.
