Letter from
Loren Niemi
Here in the office at the end of day one as Executive Director for In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre it is a measure of how far this organization has come since the days of the Circle of Water Circus when my Tour Manager's office was an old satchel stuffed with maps, contracts, notebooks and gaff tape.
On September 1, 1983 we were in Quincy, IL sleeping in church basements and settling into life on tour. "Get better or Die!" was our motto and it is as true today at it was then.
This theatre is poised for another transformation, further partnering our work in the community and the infusing of our education, touring and cultural events with signature style and imagination.
It will not be a quick makeover, but it will bring HOBT to its 40th Anniversary vital and inviting your ongoing joy as delighted audience members, dedicated volunteers, Mayday participants, creative artists and proud investors in our work.
I look forward to meeting you and having your help creating the next incarnation of In the Heart of Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre.
Loren Niemi
